NewRun and 10 reasons why you should try running 10km

Anyone can run on a road but take on the Bay Adventure’s Summer Run and you will be venturing into ‘badge of honour’ territory. There is nothing boring about this 11km all-terrain course, which features 1km on the beach, 3km on pathways, 1km of gravel track and a 6km dog track. Oh, and did we mention it was hilly! Test yourself with this adventure run.

One thing about running is it can become addictive. People who have never been runners before but are all of a sudden running more, going further and training harder can sometimes find themselves battling little niggles or injury. H Events logo small2
Hi Racers
New Date for Mine super NewRun – SUNDAY 2nd AUGUST 2020
As announced on Monday, due to the COVID19 virus crisis, we have selected a new date to stage this event.

With the nature of this health crisis such that we are expecting a lengthy disruption to all our daily lives, we have allowed almost 20 weeks for the crisis to normalise. We eagerly hope this is enough time for the event to go ahead.

Like many other small/family run businesses in our community, H Events hopes that all our valued athletes can be understanding and flexible, given the unanticipated nature of what we are all facing in the world right now!

We want to thank our sponsors, local approval stakeholders, staff, suppliers and volunteer groups for their flexibility and loyalty.

ENTRIES HAVE NOW RE-OPENED FOR THE NEW DATE.

All start times and courses remain the same, with the exception of the Marathon, which will now start at 6.20am, due to the later sunrise.

Current entries and options:
  1. All current entries will automatically be transferred to the new date (Sunday 2 August).
  2. If you are not able to participate on the new date you have until Sunday 3 May 2020 to decide if you will:
    1. Transfer the entry to another person by going to the event portal. See instructions below. There is no charge to transfer until 4 May 2020, OR
    2. Inform us via email that you wish to transfer to the 2021 NewRun event date, planned as Sun 11th April 2021 (this is not our usual first Sunday in April due to Easter), OR
    3. Inform us via email that your wish to transfer the value of the entry to another H Events staged/owned event on our 2020/2021 calendar. You need not select that event now, as a credit note will be created for you to use at a later date.
    4. The email address is admin@hevents.com.au

Notes on transferring your entry to another person.
  1. Go to the event entry portal https://theautomatedclub.com/HEvents/Enter/newrun2020

Managing your own response to COVID19

2nd Postponement of NewRun - 11 Oct 2020

New Date – SUNDAY 11 Oct 2020
It is with regret that we inform you that we must again postpone the event to a new date of Sunday 11 Oct 2020, due to the extension of mass gathering restrictions. We have been hoping that the relaxation of gathering rules would move more quickly, but after looking at current Government plans we are not confident that the previous date in August will be viable. We trust that you will understand that this decision was not made lightly and we wanted to give you as much notice as possible. This new date allows another 10 weeks for larger events to be allowable.

NewRun 2020 - CANCELLED

small medal pic
Hi Racers
It is with regret that we inform you that we must cancel the event for 2020. After proposing various amendments to the event format in order to comply with the current COVID health orders, and after consultation with various health and other authorities, we have come to the conclusion that our event is just too large and too complex to fit within the current or expect future Health orders. We thank the City of Newcastle events team, NSW Health/Ambulance and Police for their assistance in making this decision in the interests of Public Health.
In particular we want to thanks you, the runners, for your patience in these difficult times. We also would like to thank our sponsors City of Newcastle, Marathon Tyres, Hunter Valley Orthodontics, Newcastle Herald and Queens Wharf Brewery for their support in these uncharted waters of a pandemic crisis. And finally a big thanks our passionate crew and the local volunteers and suppliers. Together, we are here for the long haul... and will get through this crisis.  MORE BELOW
